Shure Model EM10A

I’ve already had a Star Wars moment on this blog, but with the recent departure of conceptual artist Ralph McQuarrie, I’ve been seeing more than my fair share of awesome Star Wars imagery on the Internets lately.  Maybe this is why the Shure push-to-talk micrphone Model EM10A (distributed by General Electric) reminds me of the notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett?  It recently sold on eBay for $22.72.

Shure Model 2A

This Shure button-style carbon microphone model 2A is missing a few springs, but otherwise is a great example of one of the earlier eras of microphone history.  It was probably manufactured in the 1920’s or 30’s, and recently sold on eBay for $161.38.

Shure Model 300

Introduced in 1952, the Shure Model 300 bi-directional ribbon microphone quickly established itself as a recording powerhouse for broadcasting, recording studios, and the stage (as did the Shure Model 315, introduced that same year).  The immaculate and practically unused item shown below is currently available recently sold on eBay for $360.

Shure Model 315

The Shure model 315 bi-directional ribbon microphone was popular in the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s.  It was commonly used for public address, theater stage sound systems, and in recording studios.  This fella’s got a couple of dents in the fender, but he is fully operational and available recently sold on eBay for $130.50.

Shure Unidyne, Model 55SW

This bad boy is available recently sold on eBay for $125.73.  The Shure Unidyne 55SW is a close cousin to the 55 “Elvis” microphone (which has no multi-impedance switch on the front) — the iconic visuals of the element housing are instantly recognizable.  Just look how he struts his “excellent condition” status on his shiny little brown stand!

Shure Tri-Polar, Model 720B

First post!  I’m not exactly sure how much this mic is worth.  Probably somewhere around $150, but that doesn’t matter.  For some reason, it’s my favorite in my collection and I’ll likely never sell it; I just love the design.  It’s on my desk at work.
