The Astatic JT30 is one of the classic harmonica microphones. Like the previously featured Astatic Model A, this style was often referred to as a “bullet mic.” You can see how when removed from the stand, a microphone shaped like this is perfect for placing in the palm of your hand while playing a harmonica. The item shown below recently sold on eBay for $82.

The Astatic Model A is an early predecessor to a later line of mics by the company commonly referred to as the JT30 series. This small and rugged crystal “bullet” mic eventually became very popular with harmonica players. This is not the first microphone to be featured here that is widely used with the harmonica, so I have decided to create a harmonica category where you can quickly see all of these items. The microphone shown below
is also currently available recently sold on eBay for $93.22.
Astatic was known for its quality crystal microphones, and introduced the stylish T3 in the 1960’s. Due to its shape, it became popular among harmonica players (see also Calrad Model DM-11). This microphone recently sold on eBay for $102.50.
